Tail Chase
Philippians 2:1-2
What Kids Will Learn
Kids learn about unity with others.
Supplies
You’ll need a Bible, a bandanna for each team, pens, and paper.
Bible Game Directions
Form teams of five. Have kids line up with their hands on the
waist of the person in front of them. Have the last player tuck a
bandanna in his or her pocket or waistband so it hangs out like a
tail.
Tell the person at the front of the line to catch the tail. Have
the players in the center of the line try to keep the first person
from catching the tail. If the line breaks, the person who let go
must step aside until the next round. Play for three minutes or
until kids catch the tail.
Play the game again, but this time have the kids in the middle
of the line help the first person catch the tail.
Afterward, read aloud Philippians 2:1-2. Then ASK: Which game rules were most like
what these verses tell us to do? Explain. What does it mean to be
"like-minded"?
SAY: Tell about a situation
you've experienced where people worked against one
another. With their teams, have kids list five secrets to
having unity. After their lists are finished, have kids read them
aloud.
PRAY: Dear God, help us learn
to work together in love. Help us be united. Amen.
FOR EXTRA IMPACT:
• Read aloud Psalm 133:1, and ask kids: Why is it good
and pleasant to live in unity?
• Write the words to Psalm 133:1 on a bulletin board, and have
kids tape their "five secrets to having unity" lists on the
board.
• Have kids choose one "secret to unity" from the lists on the
board and write it on a sheet of paper. Challenge kids to practice
that secret of unity each day.
